3.5 years ago, things began to change and the Josh everyone knew started to slowly disappear. By 6-9 months in, we realized this was not normal teenage angst and the long journey void of any answers began. Depression, anxiety, out right fear, complete withdrawal from life. We tried everything. Medical doctors, counseling, psychiatrists, MRIs, bloodwork, all kinds of other tests and meds. Tons of meds. Progress would be made then we'd be back at square one overnight. Just 14 months ago he was in the middle of a 4.5 month stint of not leaving the house at all. Still with no answers. Then 6 months later, following years of crying, pleading, screaming, and despair...and prayers, a bazillion incessant prayers...we FINALLY found out a severe football concussion was the enemy that had stolen our awesome kid from us.
After a mere 5 months of neurofeedback training, the solution God dropped in our lap by way of a single question from a now dear friend (Chas Barnes), Josh started his senior year today. He WILL graduate on time with his friends AND has already qualified for scholarships based on his ACT scores.
Best first day of school ever. Even if it's his last. But for the grace of God. And He is SO GOOD.
Concussion dangers are VERY real. But I have solid proof of the amazing healing neurofeedback provides...for a multitude of neuro-related challenges. If you would like to hear more for yourself or someone you love, PLEASE ask me.

I knew that I had ADD when my oldest child was diagnosed in kindergarten but by then I thought that I had already learned enough coping skills to manage it. After my second child was born I knew there was a problem but doctors only wanted to give me medications for anxiety and depression. By the time my third child was a year old, managing the tasks of day to day life of work and family had become impossible. I was failing at everything but with my anxiety meds I didn’t really care.
Finally a new doctor suggested that undiagnosed/untreated ADD was the cause of my anxiety and depression and got me scheduled for ADD testing. My life turned around when I started taking ADD medication. But medication has its drawbacks and I found out that NFB can have permanent effects on my ADD brain.
I have completed my first series of sessions and I am MIND BLOWN at the changes that I have already been seeing. Somewhere along the way I noticed that I was able to remember peoples names! That may not seem like a big deal, but it’s something that I have never been able to do.
I used to begin a story and lose my train of thought and often could not remember what point I was trying to make. This doesn’t happen anymore.
Now when a conversation goes off on a rabbit trail and we get off the subject, I am the one who brings us back to the main topic. This is completely new to me.
I am seeing huge improvements in the way my brain is working now and it is so exciting. I hope to continue more sessions for myself eventually but, all three of my children have ADD and I am excited to get started with them. I don’t want them to struggle to get through school the same way that I did. NFB is definitely a game changer! - T.B.

Elbow Tree has changed not only my life but my husbands life as well. I have suffered from anxiety for several years now and went to see a counselor at Elbow Tree for help. He recommended neurofeedback and felt certain that it would help me. Although I was skeptical at first, I decided to give it a try. In a few short weeks I began to notice some differences. I did not feel as anxious. My husband noticed the difference too and he wanted to give it a try to help him with concentration. It helped not only with concentration but so much more. Neurofeedback has changed our lives. The staff at Elbow tree is so welcoming and friendly. The atmosphere is welcoming, calming and inviting. I feel like I am walking into a home and visiting with friends. We are so very grateful for the help we have received. - T.M.

I brought my daughter to Elbow Tree to help her with her ADHD. Before her 20 neurofeedback sessions were finished, she stopped taking her ADHD medicine and hasn’t taken any since. I was so impressed with her improvement that I decided to try neurofeedback myself to improve my focus due to ADHD. I found that after 20 neurofeedback sessions, I was able to write an article on a plane. I used to have to write alone in total silence. I can now refocus after I get interrupted. Although I wasn’t targeting my memory, one day while inputting phone numbers and addresses into my online banking, I noticed I was able to remember longer numbers and entire addresses without having to refer back to my invoices.
I will also say that I love spending time in the waiting room at Elbow Tree. If I arrived early or had to wait on my daughter, I felt at home to hang out and drink a cup of tea or get some paperwork done. The environment at Elbow Tree is welcoming and the counselors are knowledgeable and professional. - M.N. |
So far, myself and three of my children have done NFB training, for various symptoms, with plans of our entire family doing it as we are able. We have been so happy with the entire NFB experience. The biggest changes we saw across the board were a dramatic ease of emotional stress and and anxiety, as well as improved overall mood and ability to cope with life more steadily.
I personally also experienced less brain fog and a stronger attention span which has been significant. The staff were easy to work with, and always very helpful and thorough. We have been thrilled with how NFB has helped us all in very specific and helpful ways. - M.C.

I am self employed and my work depends on me being able to juggle multiple tasks while maintaining excellent customer service for my clients. By in large the greatest benefit I've experienced from NFB was my motivation. Before, I would be exhausted when I got home from work. After doing the training sessions, I not only have plenty of energy and focus for work, but I also have motivation to work on projects at home. My family has noticed that I have more patience and am less irritable, which is also a great benefit.
I heard about NFB from a family member and was curious about how it might be a benefit for me, so I scheduled the brain map. I was blown away by how accurate the report was and couldn't wait to get started. On the other side of the training, I'm thrilled with the results and recommend it to everyone. I'm thankful that Chattanooga has something like this available. Elbow Tree has been a gift to me and my family, and I couldn't recommend those guys enough. - P.B.

I was diagnosed with depression, anxiety, and PTSD in early high school. Since then, I have seen 4 therapists, 2 psychiatrists, and tried 8 medications (only in the last year finding a medication that quells my weekly panic attacks). For 10 years I have struggled with paralyzing anxiety, dissociative episodes, lapses in memory, trouble focusing, and violent intrusive images several hundred times a day. Up until the last year, I was told to use the same coping mechanisms I had heard dozens of times: deep breathing, grounding exercises, meditation, etc., all of which just left me feeling more discouraged at my lack of ability to self-regulate.
A year ago my counselor at Elbow Tree suggested neurofeedback and I decided to give it a try in hopes that it would alleviate the severity of some of my symptoms. After 2 rounds, I am blown away by the changes. The past two months have been nearly free from dissociation and intrusive images along with reduced levels of anxiety (the longest period of stability I’ve maintained since elementary school).
Every day I discover new freedoms I never knew I was missing. Last week I sat in a park with a dear friend and listened and spoke as we wrestled with issues of faith and culture. For the first time in years I’m able to have a full conversation in a public space, actually absorbing the conversation rather than checking out and forgetting what was said, or focusing on the exit door or the imagined stranger with a gun to my head. I’ve gone camping and sat under a blanket of stars without fearing for my life. I’ve seen beauty in the details. I've encountered courage to take steps towards my future. Neurofeedback has given me space to engage in relationships, see beauty in the world, and have hope that healing is possible. It has fulfilled one of my deepest desires that I had not even dared to hope was possible.
Truly so thankful for the staff who have listened to my story, heard my pain, advocated for healing, and were so welcoming, kind, and dignifying during the whole process! - K.B.

My daughter had some very frustrating/confusing cognitive “stuff” going on as a result of mycotoxin (mold) illness from a church, a dance studio and our home. After a complete home cleaning, we did the Neurofeedback with Chas and the team. Miraculous !!!!!!! SO thankful! Thank you! - N.H.
